Girls’ Baseball Teams

Will there be tryouts?

We will not be holding tryouts for the BFA Nationals teams. We will work hard to prepare our players to be competitive, but our priority is to create opportunities for girls to play baseball, especially at Baseball For All events. In the event that we have multiple teams in a single division, or for certain non-BFA events, coaches may assign players to teams based on skill and level of experience.

What does it cost?

The family of each player will be responsible for paying their percentage of tournament fees, and for their hats & uniforms. Each tournament has different entry fees, typically per team. LA heat may hold fundraisers to reduce the out-of-pocket expenses for families.

Travel, lodging, food, etc – is not included in the fees we collect.

LA Heat does not charge players’ families for non-parent volunteer coaches or operating expenses, but we cover some of these expenses through fundraising.

Do we have to live near Los Angeles to join LA Heat?

No. We have athletes joining us from abroad. If you do not have opportunities to play with a local team, you are welcome to join us – and we would be happy to have you. We will have team zooms and coaches’ talks, and try to get all the players communicating. We will also have practices and hangouts before tournaments.

Will there be practices?

Yes, especially for players local to southern California. Team practices may be combined with our clinics at times. As an organization, we will try to get together once per month. When possible, we will also hold practices for all players in a tournament on location, typically the day before a tournament starts.

We can’t make BFA Nationals, can we still join a team?

Yes. We plan to participate in more all-girl baseball tournaments and scrimmages in the future.
